The body is a substance that creates identity and requires a medium. It is a space that exposes itself to the reading and evaluation of others and is rebuilt based on the same readings. Also, the body acts like a medium; it provides the possibility of creating a dialogue with the outside world and recreates what it has undergone internally due to time, place, gender, etc., and makes its perception of the world. Above contemplating this critical fact that the body is a tool to perceive the world and a medium to represent it, the flexibility of the body in the maze of social, historical, and medical hazards and other perilous parameters made me cherish this powerful tool of human identity (body) and admire its status and presence in this perilous and mutable arena. In the popular culture of the East, one uses a caustic substance such as incense or wild rue seeds to shield something/someone precious for them from evil. I, too, utilized this concept in this collection and made objects to protect the body.
